Interview with Michael Castilla
Alright Micheal all known as Mike is one of my closest friend online, owner of WPCandy.com and also an inspiration to what I do, meaning this blog. Back in the day I was never really into all this blogging, just pretty much been going with graphic/web design. Ever since I saw his new website, WPCandy opened about 6 months ago, first thing I did there was register on the site and signed up to his news letter. And, I kept on reading every new posts and updates he makes on the site. After a while something came up to my head and gave me this idea on starting my own blog, it looked like a fun thing to do. So as him being my inspiration I started my own blog which is now konvictedTALES.
As time passed by I thought of interviewing Mike, to get to know about him a bit more and to see how he started his journey on making WPCandy. Also to show all the other bloggers and webmasters out there how a real webmaster does his work. Read more to see my interview with Michael.
Suthan: Hey mike, how are you today?
Mike: Hey Suthan thanks for having me on konvictedTALES. I’m doing pretty good, just got back from the beach.
Suthan: Awesome! So let’s get this started, what is your role in the cyber world?
Mike: Well, I own a blog and I’m a freelancer, so I blog and do Web design work on the side.
Suthan: Who or what introduced you to what you do now?
Mike: I was first introduced to HTML by my 6th grade teacher of a school course I was taking. After a few years, I met my friend Alain Fontaine who introduced me to CSS, XHTML, and WordPress. After that, I just couldn’t stop!
Suthan: Have you ever thought of becoming a graphic designer instead of a web developer?
Mike: I actually started out as a graphic designer and then found out that I really suck at it. But you can’t say I never tried! Later, I got into coding and simply loved it.
Suthan: What are your goals, are you planning to continue what you started till the end or is there something else?
Mike: I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to do with WPCandy a lot actually. I’m planning on taking it to the next level and start to introduce more parts to the site. Expect something within the next few months.
Suthan: What gave you the idea to start WPCandy?
Mike: I wanted to do something with WordPress. I thought a gallery would be a good idea, but Alain convinced me that a blog and a gallery would be better. So I took his advice and turned WPCandy into what it is today.
Suthan: How far are you trying to bring WPCandy, is there anything new coming up?
Mike: Pretty far. As I said above, expect something in the near future =)
Suthan: What are your motivation to keep the site active and updated weekly?
Mike: The community is a great motivation. I see other bloggers posting about great information about stuff, and it inspires me to do the same. In fact, I look up to a lot of bloggers.
Suthan: Tell us a little about your experience with WPCandy ever since it was opened.
Mike: From the time WPCandy was launched to now, I’ve met tons of people and learned a lot. WPCandy is my first blog so I’ve done a lot of experimenting with it. It’s definitely been a great experience and I’m glad I launched WPCandy in the first place.
Suthan: Are you ever planning on selling your website?
Mike: At this point in time, no. I would still like to further develop it and see how far I can push it. But it’s a possibility. You never know!
Suthan: Now to end this, quick question. Can you give any advice to the young bloggers and webmasters out there?
Mike: Learn as much as possible! Start getting experience in the fields you’d like to pursue.
Suthan: Thank you Mike, I appreciate this chat with you.
Mike: No problem Suthan. Thank you too! Have a good one.
